The EiBotBoard EBB v2.7 Driver Board is a USB-based dual stepper motor controller board designed for versatile robotics applications. Initially created for the EggBot project, it also serves as the control board for the EggBot, AxiDraw, and WaterColorBot, and can be used as a replacement or spare for these machines. Additionally, it is a favored choice for various other applications, including DIY pen plotters.
Designed by Brian Schmalz of Schmalz Haus LLC, this open-source motor controller board is based on the PIC18F46J50 microcontroller. It features two Allegro A4983 16X micro-stepping motor drivers for bipolar stepper motors and includes an onboard regulator capable of powering up to two hobby servo motors. The board measures 2 x 2 inches (5.6 x 5.6 cm) and is compatible with a 9 V 1.5 A power supply.
The current version, 2.7, utilizes a standard USB micro connector and includes a switch that, by default, deactivates power to the pen-lift servo motor after one minute of inactivity. This timeout duration can be modified or disabled via the serial command protocol.
Note: Ensure proper handling and usage to avoid electrical hazards.
